Tim Hwang

Co-founder and CEO, FiscalNote

Tim is currently the Founder and CEO of FiscalNote, a Government Relationship Management platform that uses AI, analytics, and natural language processing to help global organizations take control of their government risk and automate the law. The global company with offices around the world has now grown to become the largest privately held company in the legal analytics space and powers 1,300 of the world’s largest and most influential law firms, legal departments, and governments in creating a more open and transparent society through data. With Hwang’s technology and capital partners from the likes of Mark Cuban, Jerry Yang, Steve Case, NEA, Renren and others, FiscalNote is revolutionizing access to legislation, regulations, and court cases for organizations around the world. Prior to founding FiscalNote, Hwang started his career in politics in the Obama ’08 campaign, assisting in the election of the first Obama Administration. He was elected to the Montgomery County Board of Education a year later, overseeing a budget of over $4 Billion for 22,000 public employees. As a student, Tim also served as the President of the National Youth Association and the founder of Operation Fly. Inc., – a national 501(c)(3) organization that served inner-city children in underprivileged areas around the country.

David Kieselstein

Chairman of the Executive Board, MidOcean Partners

David Kieselstein joined MidOcean’s Executive Board in January 2018 and serves as Chairman. In this role, Mr. Kieselstein leads the Executive Board’s efforts to provide strategic guidance to MidOcean’s portfolio companies. Mr. Kieselstein also serves as Operating Partner across MidOcean’s business services portfolio, and works closely with the investment team in the sourcing, evaluation and execution of new business services investments. In addition, Mr. Kieselstein currently serves on the boards of two MidOcean portfolio companies, Questex (Chairman) and The Planet Group. Mr. Kieselstein most recently served as CEO of Penton, a former MidOcean portfolio company and the largest privately held professional information services company in North America. After joining the company in early 2012, he was instrumental in driving the rapid transformation of Penton, by executing on a three-pronged innovation and growth strategy: continuous improvement of core offerings, strategic acquisitions in high potential industry sectors, and creation of a new product launch engine. Penton was acquired by Informa PLC in November 2016 for $1.6 billion.

Charlene Li

She is working on her next book, “The Disruptor’s Agenda” scheduled to publish in May 2019. She’s also an entrepreneur who founded and ran Altimeter Group, a disruptive industry analyst firm that was acquired by Prophet in 2015. With over 20 years of experience in tech and business, she has been a respected advisor to Fortune 500 companies on digital transformation and leadership. Charlene has appeared on 60 Minutes, PBS NewsHour, ABC News, CNN and CNBC, and is frequently quoted by The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Reuters and The Associated Press. Charlene was named one of the Top 50 Leadership Innovators by Inc, and one of the most creative people in business by Fast Company. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and received her MBA from Harvard Business School.

Johnny Taylor

President and CEO, SHRM-SCP

Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR professional society. Under his leadership, the Society has grown to a record 300,000 members in over 165 countries who impact the lives of 115 million workers every day. As a global leader on human capital, culture and leadership, Mr. Taylor is a sought-after voice by C-suite executives as well as state and federal elected policy makers on all matters affecting work, workers and the workplace. He is frequently invited to testify before Congress on critical workforce issues—from sexual harassment to paid leave—and authors a weekly column, “Ask HR,” in USA Today, the country’s largest newspaper. Mr. Taylor’s knowledge and perspectives are shaped by his 20+ year career as a lawyer, human resources executive and CEO in both the not-for-profit and for-profit space. His decades of industry leadership include senior and chief executive roles at IAC/Interactive Corp, Viacom’s Paramount Pictures and Blockbuster Entertainment Group, McGuireWoods LLC and Compass Group USA. Most recently, Mr. Taylor served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which advocates and represents publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Mr. Taylor serves on the corporate board of Gallup, the world’s leading public opinion and consulting firm. He also actively volunteers for education, employment and other social causes by serving on the boards of the University of Miami, Jobs for America’s Graduates and the American Red Cross and as an adviser to Safe Streets & Second Chances, an initiative to reduce the high rate of recidivism among the formerly incarcerated. In 2018, he was appointed Chair of the President’s Advisory Board on Historically Black Colleges and Universities by President Donald J. Trump.

James Capo

Chief Revenue Officer, Omeda

James Capo is the Chief Revenue Officer at Omeda. Previously he served as Vice President of Digital Services and Business Development at Access Intelligence. At Access Intelligence, Capo is charged with developing new digital products and partnerships that focus on end-user engagement, data capture, customer insights, and revenue generation. Previously, Capo was with Cygnus Business Media where he lead the development of mobile and tablet applications as well as multiple new digital product launches. Capo also spent 7 years in technology and sales at the Associated Press working primarily in the digital broadcast space.

Bill Carter

Bill Carter serves as president and chief executive officer of ALM. ALM is a leading provider of news and business information to the legal and real estate industries. Bill joined ALM from Thomson Reuters, where he was senior vice president of the Small Law Business Unit. He has also been a senior executive at LexisNexis, Epiq Systems, Gerson Lehrman Group and GES Exposition Services. Prior to going to work in the legal and information services industries, Bill was a consultant at Bain & Company.

Steven Casey

Principal Analyst, Forrester

Steve serves B2B marketing professionals. Thematically, his research focuses on the impact of consumer behavior and preferences on the B2B buying cycle and how B2B marketers need to adapt their strategies, tactics, and technologies to optimize engagement with this new "B2B consumer." Steve covers account-based marketing (ABM) strategies and solutions, data providers and data management solutions (including customer data platforms [CDPs]), programmatic advertising, as well as emerging and enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), chatbots and virtual assistants, and virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Steve is an accomplished B2B marketing expert with more than 20 years’ experience in demand generation, sales enablement, and corporate marketing roles. He started his career as a journalist covering consumer and business technology markets at IDG and Cahners. As a marketing practitioner, Steve has held senior positions with, and served as an agency counselor to, a diverse set of technology firms, from venture-backed startups to global corporations, including Deloitte, TeleTech, RSA, Sybase, Carbonite, and TomTom.

Alex Ford

CEO, Praetorian Group

Alex Ford is CEO of The Praetorian Group, the leading digital media company in the public safety and local government market. Alex has successfully built the company from the ground up, co-founding Praetorian in 1999 and becoming its CEO in 2001. He has led the company through two economic downturns to a clear market leadership position, driving eight years of continuous profitability and 15% annual growth. Under his direction, Praetorian has launched more than 25 websites, including PoliceOne.com, FireRescue1.com, CorrectionsOne.com and EMS1.com - all either the #1 or #2 online media properties in their markets. Prior to Praetorian, Alex served as a business strategy consultant and assisted multiple Fortune 100 companies in evaluating online opportunities, including GM, IBM and Harley-Davidson. Jim Lindner

Member, Executive Board, Aurora Capital

Mr. Lindner is a member of Aurora's Executive Board. He has more than 40 years of experience in computer hardware and software and information services, including more than 25 years as CEO or COO of companies with revenue between $100 million and $1 billion. Mr. Lindner began his career with IBM, and later served as Chairman and CEO of ISC-Bunker Ramo Corporation, President of Memorex Telex Corporation's Networks Group, and President and CEO of Attachmate. In 1997, Mr. Lindner became Chairman and CEO of Mitchell International, a leading provider of technology solutions for the property and casualty claims industry, and was responsible for leading the company through a new era of accelerated growth and transformational acquisition activity. In 2008, Mr. Lindner was elevated to the role of Executive Chairman at Mitchell, and he remains an advisor to the company today.

Christopher Mohr

General Counsel, Vice President of Intellectual Property, SIIA

Chris Mohr is Vice President for Intellectual Property and General Counsel for the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association representing software and digital content industries. Mohr spearheads public advocacy on intellectual property issues and works closely with technology industries. Previously, in private practice, Mohr provided strategic advice to technology, software, entertainment, and other clients on issues involving copyright, privacy, the First Amendment, licensing, public records access, and unfair competition. He has also appeared before legislative, judicial, and administrative bodies on matters of intellectual property and constitutional law and has been involved in several U.S. Supreme Court cases.

Gemma Postlethwaite became CEO of SourceMedia in April of 2018. Prior to joining SourceMedia, Gemma was CEO of PIRA Energy Group where she led a major transformation of the company and established PIRA as the leading integrated, research and data provider to the global energy markets. In 2016 Gemma led the sale of PIRA Energy Group to S&P Global. Postlethwaite has spent several years in leadership roles in the business information sector. Prior to joining PIRA Energy Group, she was SVP, Strategy and Operations at Altegrity, a global provider of risk and compliance solutions; and Chief Product Officer and President of Infogroup’s SMB business unit. Diane Young

Co-founder and CEO, The Drum

Diane Young trained as a mathematician (definitely a conversation stopper at a party) but somehow ended up with a career in the media. She describes herself on her Twitter profile as business-obsessed and marketing-mad but still retains that little bit of math with her twitter handle @symmetrigal. She joined The Drum to introduce events into the business but quickly took over the role of CEO, a role she has held for 20 years. In the latter part of that time, she has led The Drum team from a struggling regional multi-title publisher to an increasingly global media business focussed on serving media and marketing professionals, a journey that she outlined in her TEDx talk “How it took 25 years to be an overnight success”. With offices in London, Glasgow, New York and Singapore, she is currently immersed in planning the next steps to scale the business. She is a previous winner of the UK’s national trade body’s Publishing Innovator of the Year award.
