This session will explore cutting edge practices used in cities that have had the greatest successes in reducing infant mortality. We will discuss framing of birth equity in state health departments, disparities through a human rights lens and identify how to center cultural competency. The National Birth Equity Collaborative's national report, "State of Black Babies", will be discussed, describing the social determinants and circumstances surrounding infant death through independent quantitative and qualitative analysis. Prevalent themes will be explored using a tool that centers family voice, as we consider ways to use non-traditional partnerships in an effective response.
