The Kansas Special Health Services Family Advisory Council (SHS-FAC) has been a robust and active council that originally was developed to advise and assist the Special Health Care Needs program. The council was expended in 2013 to include the entire Special Health Services (SHS) system. Over time, council members have drastically increased their leadership and advocacy skills to become a strong voice for CYSHCN across the state. As members were reaching the maximum terms allowed according to the SHS bylaws, it was noted by the SHS team that something needed to be developed to support members who had interest in continuing in some type of leadership role so
